Web Account Handler

Background

This dynamic and fast growing e-marketing and web design agency is looking for an experienced Senior Account Manager who is enthusiastic, sharp and extremely motivated.

Working closely with the Creative Director and the technical team you will be expected to contribute to strategic as well as technical and creative ideas. The business is very open in its approach and you will be given every opportunity to work at the highest level with the client.

You will be responsible for winning new clients as well as ensuring existing clients requirements are delivered on time. You will have full profit and loss responsibility for your accounts and after a satisfactory probationary period, will share in the profits of the entire agency.

Three to five years experience is essential, good project management knowledge/experience will help and an ability to understand the business and technical aspects of a web design project is vital.

We are based in Croydon, Surrey and we're 50 metres away from East Croydon station so it's a doddle to get here.

Duties will include:

• Keeping existing clients happy by building a professional and friendly working relationship with the company contacts
• Advising clients on the best way to approach their needs, based on the services that we can offer
• Using knowledge of the possibilities of the web to spot sales opportunities for the company
• Providing professional and accurate documentation, pricing, etc.
• Working on new business pitches and tender documents
• Doing some occasional and straightforward website maintenance (via a content management system)
• Managing smaller site developments within the agency, ensuring that deadlines are realistic and are met on both sides

The person

Ideally, you should be from an account handling background, preferably within a web development or new media company. We're also happy to talk to web developers or designers who are looking to move into a more customer-facing role, or good Account Handlers from a different professional background. However, you should be able to provide evidence that your aptitude will lie in account handling for a web development company and that you have a technical understanding applicable to this role.

Good interpersonal skills are also a must. We are after people who our clients will find friendly, likeable and approachable but can also manage expectations adequately. You will need self-confidence both face-to-face and over the telephone, and have excellent presenting skills. Your clients will vary in their technical knowledge so you will need to be confident enough to deal with those who have advanced knowledge, while also being a good 'explainer' for those who are less technical.You must have a good knowledge of what is technically possible on the web, along with 'best practice' from good design fundamentals to accessibility-for-all. A quick learner, you'll need to absorb and understand our portfolio of sites and products. You will also need to understand our clients' businesses, and their customer and user base.

Above all you will need to be organised, and be a proven professional with an eye for detail and an acute business acumen with a desire to succeed and progress both yourself and the company.
