Active summers for young Londoners

Every young person in London should be able to access courses and activities that boost their confidence, inspire them to learn and equip them to find employment. Summer Uni offers a combination of free courses for young people aged 8 -25.



The project started with a pilot in 1995 and has grown over the years to become a London wide network of 32 Summer Unis in 2008. Summer Uni London supports this network and encourages new boroughs to develop their own Summer Uni. It is also the only website offering enrolment for Summer Unis across London.

The website we designed and built for Summer Uni aims to provide information on all their courses and facilitate online registration for students. It also provides information and resources for funders and Summer Uni network partners.

We designed a site that is user friendly and easy to navigate, with a fresh youth oriented look working within the brand’s colour scheme.

The website provides a searchable course directory with integrated maps for all Summer Uni courses. Part of a marketing campaign aimed at 8-25 year olds, the website links in with social networking websites where young people can upload videos and photos.

An ambitious secure area for staff and network partners allows the online administration of applications and other tasks – from over-subscription management and dynamic course calendars to registration printing and door labels.

The website is packed full of opportunities and ways for young people to get involved: signing up for a course in the summer or during other times of the year, becoming a volunteer, getting involved in one of their events, or simply looking through Summer Uni London’s myspace, flickr and YouTube sites.
